3030. CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION. 3 cr. An in-depth study <strong>of</strong> the<br />
principles, concepts, and theories applicable to the investig<strong>at</strong>ion<br />
procedures used by law enforcement agents and agencies.<br />
Analysis <strong>of</strong> case law affecting criminal investig<strong>at</strong>ions. The course<br />
is designed to familiarize the student with the mechanics <strong>of</strong><br />
investig<strong>at</strong>ive evidence processing techniques. Prerequisite: 1001,<br />
2030, or approval <strong>of</strong> program director.<br />
4005. THEORIES OF CRIME AND DELINQUENCY. 3 cr. An analysis<br />
<strong>of</strong> the extent <strong>of</strong> crime and delinquency; impact <strong>of</strong> crime and<br />
delinquency on society; physical, social, and psychological<br />
caus<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> crime and delinquency; and current issues in<br />
criminology. (Same as SOCL 4005.)<br />
4015. JUVENILE DELINQUENCY AND JUSTICE. 3 cr. The n<strong>at</strong>ure,<br />
extent, and causes <strong>of</strong> juvenile delinquency; factors in its<br />
tre<strong>at</strong>ment and prevention, including community and agency<br />
programs; and analysis <strong>of</strong> the legal system as it applies to<br />
juveniles. (Same as SOCL 4015).<br />
4016. CONTEMPORARY ISSUES IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE. 3 cr.<br />
Examin<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> the liter<strong>at</strong>ure and analysis <strong>of</strong> current issues<br />
relevant to criminal justice. Prerequisite: Junior, Senior, or<br />
Gradu<strong>at</strong>e standing.<br />
4018. CONSTITUTIONAL LAW AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE. 3 cr. Study<br />
<strong>of</strong> constitutional law and its applicability in the criminal justice<br />
system. (Same as Political Science 4018). Prerequisite: Political<br />
Science 2001.<br />
4029. MANAGEMENT OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE AGENCIES. 3 cr. The<br />
applic<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> supervisory and administr<strong>at</strong>ive principles to the<br />
management <strong>of</strong> correctional and police agencies in the United<br />
St<strong>at</strong>es. Students with prior credit for CJUS 4013 and/or 4014 are<br />
not eligible to receive credit in CJUS 4029. Prerequisite: Junior or<br />
senior standing or permission <strong>of</strong> the department head.<br />
4019. INTERNSHIP IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE. 3 cr. One semester <strong>of</strong><br />
supervised service in a criminal justice agency. Open only to<br />
Criminal Justice majors who have completed <strong>at</strong> least 60 hours <strong>of</strong><br />
course work and have no prior experience. Students must make<br />
applic<strong>at</strong>ion for the Internship the semester prior to th<strong>at</strong> in which it<br />
will be taken.<br />
4099. SENIOR SEMINAR IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE. 3 cr. A capstone<br />
course for the integr<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> knowledge concerning the criminal<br />
justice system, criminal law, criminology, juvenile delinquency,<br />
law enforcement, corrections, administr<strong>at</strong>ion, legal aspects, and<br />
research methods. Prerequisite: Restricted to students receiving<br />
the baccalaure<strong>at</strong>e degree in Criminal Justice. Registr<strong>at</strong>ion is<br />
required during the semester in which the degree is to be received.<br />

4000. CORRECTIONAL TREATMENT. 3 cr. An overview and an<br />
examin<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> the basics <strong>of</strong> classific<strong>at</strong>ion and counseling<br />
approaches, emphasizing interpersonal skills development, d<strong>at</strong>a<br />
collection, interviewing, assessment techniques, and counseling.<br />
Prerequisite: 1001, 2070, and junior standing or approval <strong>of</strong><br />
program director.<br />
4091. DIRECTED STUDY. 1-3 cr. Individual examin<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> relevant<br />
liter<strong>at</strong>ure in student’s area <strong>of</strong> interest as approved and directed by<br />
the major pr<strong>of</strong>essor. May not be repe<strong>at</strong>ed for more than 3 hours<br />

ENVIRONMENTS. 3 cr. This course provides an orient<strong>at</strong>ion to<br />
teaching th<strong>at</strong> includes legal and organiz<strong>at</strong>ional aspects <strong>of</strong> public<br />
educ<strong>at</strong>ion; history and philosophy <strong>of</strong> educ<strong>at</strong>ion; and provides<br />
multicultural insight to support the educ<strong>at</strong>ional needs <strong>of</strong> diverse<br />
students in their learning environment.<br />
2085. APPLICATION OF INSTRUCTIONAL MEDIA & TECHNOLOGY.<br />
3 cr. This course is an introduction to the prepar<strong>at</strong>ion, selection,<br />
applic<strong>at</strong>ion, evalu<strong>at</strong>ion, and integr<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> media and technology<br />
in instructional settings, including audiovisual and microcomputer<br />
applic<strong>at</strong>ions. Labor<strong>at</strong>ory practice includes the production <strong>of</strong><br />
projected, nonprojected, and computer-based instructional<br />
m<strong>at</strong>erials.<br />
3002. INCLUSIVE INSTRUCTION FOR SECONDARY STUDENTS. 3<br />
cr. Psychological, social, and educ<strong>at</strong>ional needs <strong>of</strong> exceptional,<br />
<strong>at</strong>-risk, and culturally diverse secondary students, including<br />
legal, social, and ethical issues. Must be admitted to Teacher<br />
