written notific<strong>at</strong>ion is received in the Registrar’s Office.<br />
Students have the right to file complaints with the FERPA<br />
Office in Washington, D.C., concerning alleged failures by<br />
the <strong>University</strong> to comply with the Act.<br />
Students who wish to allow their parents access<br />
to their records (academic, financial, billing, or any<br />
inform<strong>at</strong>ion rel<strong>at</strong>ed to their enrollment <strong>at</strong> ULM) may<br />
complete a “Privacy Waiver for Parental Access to<br />
Records” form in the Registrar’s Office. If the student<br />
chooses <strong>at</strong> a l<strong>at</strong>er d<strong>at</strong>e to rescind parental access to<br />
records, he/she must complete a “Rescindment <strong>of</strong> FERPA<br />
Parental Privacy Waiver” document in the Registrar’s<br />
Office. Either form requires th<strong>at</strong> the student present<br />
a picture ID and sign the form in the presence <strong>of</strong> an<br />
authorized ULM <strong>of</strong>ficial.<br />
CREDIT FOR CORRESPONDENCE,<br />
EXTENSION, EXAMINATION AND<br />
MILITARY SERVICE<br />
No more than one-third <strong>of</strong> the number <strong>of</strong> hours<br />
required for gradu<strong>at</strong>ion may be given for credit by<br />
examin<strong>at</strong>ion, for credit earned in the military service<br />
experiences, and for correspondence and extension<br />
courses taken through accredited extension divisions <strong>of</strong><br />
other colleges and universities.<br />
1. Correspondence and Independent Study<br />
Courses<br />
Credit will be granted for correspondence and<br />
independent study courses s<strong>at</strong>isfactorily completed<br />
through accredited extension divisions <strong>of</strong> other colleges<br />
and universities. A student who expects to use any<br />
correspondence or extension work toward meeting<br />
degree requirements must receive approval in writing<br />
from the academic dean prior to registr<strong>at</strong>ion for such<br />
work. Students approved to take correspondence courses<br />
for credit <strong>at</strong> the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Louisiana</strong> <strong>at</strong> <strong>Monroe</strong> must<br />
take their exams through the ULM Testing Center or<br />
similar facility th<strong>at</strong> has been approved by the Director<br />
<strong>of</strong> Testing <strong>at</strong> ULM. Exams must be taken prior to the<br />
semester in which the student is scheduled to gradu<strong>at</strong>e.<br />
All requests for correspondence, independent study, or<br />
any course exam administered <strong>at</strong> ULM on behalf <strong>of</strong> other<br />
institutions, regardless <strong>of</strong> a student’s enrollment st<strong>at</strong>us <strong>at</strong><br />
ULM, must be coordin<strong>at</strong>ed and approved through ULM<br />
testing services <strong>at</strong> testing@ulm.edu. If the exam is not<br />
proctored by authorized <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Louisiana</strong> <strong>at</strong> <strong>Monroe</strong><br />
staff, the Registrar may choose not to accept the credit<br />
for placement on the ULM transcript and for fulfillment <strong>of</strong><br />
the degree. Correspondence exam proctor inform<strong>at</strong>ion is<br />
available <strong>at</strong> testing.ulm.edu.<br />
2. ACT/SAT<br />
Credit will be granted for freshman English and M<strong>at</strong>h<br />
courses based on scores from the American College<br />
Test (ACT) or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) as<br />

<strong>of</strong>ficially reported to the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Louisiana</strong> <strong>at</strong> <strong>Monroe</strong>.<br />
Students must have <strong>of</strong>ficial qualifying scores sent directly<br />
from the testing company to the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Louisiana</strong><br />
<strong>at</strong> <strong>Monroe</strong> to be eligible for credit. Score requests may<br />
be made on the respective testing company websites<br />
(www.actstudent.org or www.collegeboard.com). The ACT<br />
College Code is 1598 and the SAT College Code is 6482.<br />
The credit granting policy for courses based on ACT or<br />
SAT is available <strong>at</strong> testing.ulm.edu.<br />
3. Advanced Placement Examin<strong>at</strong>ions<br />
Credit will be granted for appropri<strong>at</strong>e courses based<br />
on s<strong>at</strong>isfactory scores on The College Board Advanced<br />
Placement Examin<strong>at</strong>ions (AP) administered each May in<br />
high schools which have acceler<strong>at</strong>ed programs. Students<br />
must have <strong>of</strong>ficial AP scores sent directly from AP<br />
Services to the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Louisiana</strong> <strong>at</strong> <strong>Monroe</strong>. The AP<br />
College Code is 6482. Inform<strong>at</strong>ion concerning AP testing<br />
is available <strong>at</strong> www.apcentral.collegeboard.com. The<br />
<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Louisiana</strong> <strong>at</strong> <strong>Monroe</strong> AP credit granting policy<br />
is available <strong>at</strong> testing.ulm.edu.<br />
4. College-Level Examin<strong>at</strong>ion Program<br />
Credit will be granted for appropri<strong>at</strong>e courses based<br />
on s<strong>at</strong>isfactory scores on College-Level Examin<strong>at</strong>ion<br />
Program (CLEP) Subject Examin<strong>at</strong>ions th<strong>at</strong> have been<br />
approved for credit <strong>at</strong> the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Louisiana</strong> <strong>at</strong><br />
<strong>Monroe</strong>. (CLEP General Examin<strong>at</strong>ions are not accepted<br />
for credit <strong>at</strong> the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Louisiana</strong> <strong>at</strong> <strong>Monroe</strong>.) CLEP<br />
exams must be taken prior to the semester in which<br />
the student is scheduled to gradu<strong>at</strong>e. Students must<br />
s<strong>at</strong>isfy any developmental requirements before taking<br />
a m<strong>at</strong>h or English CLEP exam. CLEP examin<strong>at</strong>ions<br />
are administered throughout the year <strong>at</strong> the <strong>University</strong><br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>Louisiana</strong> <strong>at</strong> <strong>Monroe</strong>. Students must have <strong>of</strong>ficial<br />
CLEP scores sent directly from CLEP Services to the<br />
<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Louisiana</strong> <strong>at</strong> <strong>Monroe</strong>. The CLEP College<br />
Code is 6482. Military service veterans who took CLEP<br />
as part <strong>of</strong> the DANTES program must have CLEP subject<br />
scores reported directly to the <strong>University</strong> from DANTES.<br />
The <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Louisiana</strong> <strong>at</strong> <strong>Monroe</strong> CLEP credit<br />
granting policy, a list <strong>of</strong> CLEP Subject Examin<strong>at</strong>ions,<br />
and registr<strong>at</strong>ion forms are available <strong>at</strong> testing.ulm.edu.<br />

5. Dantes Standardized Subject Tests<br />
Credit will be granted for appropri<strong>at</strong>e courses based<br />
on s<strong>at</strong>isfactory scores on Dantes Standardized Subject<br />
Tests (DSST) th<strong>at</strong> have been approved for credit <strong>at</strong> the<br />
<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Louisiana</strong> <strong>at</strong> <strong>Monroe</strong>. DSST exams must<br />
be taken prior to the semester in which to student is<br />
scheduled to gradu<strong>at</strong>e. DSST exams are administered<br />
throughout the year <strong>at</strong> the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Louisiana</strong> <strong>at</strong><br />
