<strong>Sappi</strong> Forest Products, based <strong>in</strong> Southern Africa, produces nearly two million tons of pulp.<br />

The bus<strong>in</strong>ess is a significant net seller of pulp and together with the North American net<br />

surplus provides a pulp revenue stream that effectively hedges most of the purchases of<br />

pulp by our European bus<strong>in</strong>ess. This virtually elim<strong>in</strong>ates the group’s overall exposure to<br />

changes <strong>in</strong> world pulp prices.<br />

<strong>Sappi</strong> Saiccor is the world’s largest manufacturer of chemical cellulose and has one of the<br />

lowest-cost positions. The uses of chemical cellulose are wide-rang<strong>in</strong>g and <strong>in</strong>clude produc<strong>in</strong>g<br />

viscose and lyocell fibres, mould<strong>in</strong>g powders, cellophane, cellulose acetate for filter tow, and<br />

micro crystall<strong>in</strong>e cellulose and ethers for pharmaceutical and food applications.<br />

<strong>Sappi</strong> Kraft makes bleached and unbleached kraft pulp, conta<strong>in</strong>erboard, packag<strong>in</strong>g paper<br />

and newspr<strong>in</strong>t.<br />
