3.11 Family and community violenceThe National Information Development Plan for Crime and Justice Statistics(ABS Cat. no. 4520.0) has prioritised the development of statistics on family anddomestic violence for all people, including Indigenous people. The ABS/AIHWFamily and Domestic Violence Statistics Working Group was established torecommend strategies to improve the range, availability and quality of familyviolence statistical information in the health and welfare and crime and justicefields. Progress by the working group includes a report examining key national datasources (AIHW 2006). A project has commenced to develop a conceptualframework for domestic and family violence statistics.The ABS National Centre for Crime & Justice Statistics is working with theNational Criminal Courts Statistics Unit Advisory Group to collect and publishnationally comparable crime victimisation data and data on the relationship betweenvictims and perpetrators, by Indigenous status.
