RUNNING A SUCCESSFUL REIA MEETING
Two recommended brands of microphones are Sennheiser and
Shure. Both companies make top-notch microphones that sound
great and take a pretty good beating.
Projectors And Screens
Most speakers will have some sort of visual presentation. This can
be as simple as a slide show or as complex as a video. You should
always talk to your speaker to determine what type of projector
they'll need. Make sure it will be compatible with the way they'll
deliver the presentation. Some equipment may only work with a PC
while others may only work with a Mac. If the speaker will provide
a DVD then you'll also need a DVD player which is hooked up to
the projector.
You'll also want to provide an efficient way for the speaker to
operate the projector. Some people will simply plug their laptop into
it and will be able to operate it that way. Other speakers may want to
have a remote control which will allow them to change slides or
pause and play videos without touching a computer. Make sure they
understand how to use this device before the event starts.
Where you place the projector is also an important consideration.
You'll want to keep it in a location where it won't interfere with the
audience. There may be plenty of wires connected to it and these
can be a safety issue if the projector is in the middle of the room.
Try not to obstruct the aisle and keep it elevated so no one will
block its projection.
The screen will also need to be clearly visible to everyone in the
room. This can be somewhat tricky with a circular room set up but
try to avoid angling it in any one direction. The speaker will also
need to be able to see what's on the screen during the presentation,
so keep this in mind.
