RUNNING A SUCCESSFUL <strong>REIA</strong> MEETING<br />

When you're doing an event with a selling speaker, it's important<br />

that you get them started as quickly as possible. Many <strong>REIA</strong><br />

meetings run with a schedule similar <strong>to</strong> what you see below for a<br />

weeknight meeting. Of course, larger weekend events with multiple<br />

speakers will look drastically different from what you see below, but<br />

once you understand what happens during a general meeting,<br />

planning a larger event will be that much easier. (We'll break each<br />

one of these timeframes down further in a moment.)<br />

• 6:00 pm <strong>to</strong> 7:00 pm: Open Networking<br />

• 7:00 pm <strong>to</strong> 7:30 pm: Official meeting begins. Announcements<br />

take place, forced networking and "Haves and Wants" take place<br />

(more on this in a minute). Host gets audience pumped up, ready<br />

for the main speaker. Host announces main speaker.<br />

• 7:30 pm <strong>to</strong> 9:00 pm: Featured Speaker takes the stage,<br />

provides great training, then <strong>to</strong>wards the end of the presentation,<br />

drives people <strong>to</strong> the back of room <strong>to</strong> sign up for whatever<br />

package(s) are offered.<br />

• 9:00 pm <strong>to</strong> 9:20 pm: People flock <strong>to</strong> the back table, fill out<br />

order forms, payments are processed, and purchasers are<br />

delivered products and given instructions on what <strong>to</strong> do next (if<br />

anything).<br />

• 9:30 pm: Event is over. Begin clearing out the room/cleanup,<br />

etc...<br />

6-7 pm - Open Networking<br />

People love <strong>to</strong> network with other inves<strong>to</strong>rs. Leave time for it before<br />

the official meeting starts. I've seen a lot of <strong>REIA</strong> clubs provide<br />

food during this time, which is a great hook for getting people in<strong>to</strong><br />

the room early. Not only does this provide for great networking<br />

time, it also helps <strong>to</strong> get your main meeting started on time. If done<br />
