want to attend a REIA that has a fun environment. It is possible to
have a fun and professional environment at the same time!
• Pictures of Past Meetings and Events
People relate to images very quickly. One of the best things to
include on your group's website is photos of past meetings and
events. These need to be as professional as possible and should
show off both the size of the group and how much fun the events
can be. The best pictures are the ones taken during networking time
when people are smiling, laughing, having a great time together.
Pictures are one of the reasons Facebook became so popular. People
love to look into the lives of other people, and we all know a picture
is worth a thousand words. Make sure your pictures say "FUN!"
• Up To Date Info on Future Meetings and Events
While it's not necessary to have the next five years planned out in
advance and listed out on your website, people do want to have
something to look forward to. I say give them a reason to get
excited! Show them a sneak peak of what's coming.
One thing you do not want to do is plan too far ahead. For example,
if you're having a national speaker at next month’s meeting, it's
usually best to focus in on that one event. I've seen REIAs show
every meeting and national speaker they plan on having for the next
12 months on their website, and I actually think it could detract from
sales at the meeting at hand.
People will often come to your group's website because they are
interested in networking with other real estate investors (again, this
is where a few pictures say a lot). If the website has done its job, the
people that attend the meetings only for networking will also want
to attend for many other reasons as well. The key here is to keep the
information on the website up to date and relevant so there is no
confusion. No one is going to come to this month’s meeting if they
