• Give them a Reason
Some websites have managed to create lists containing tens of
thousands of email addresses. This may take some time, but it
simply will not happen without some sort of incentive. Everyone
hates junk mail and they will often be reluctant to give out their
email address simply because you've asked for it. The truth is, you
need to give them a reason. And it better be a good one.
The best thing to do is offer something in return for their
them for free. Ebooks are the simplest material to give away because
they provide more value than a simple PDF article or text document.
The book should be both relevant and desirable. Some people have
even created a book specifically for this purpose, and it will have
been designed to appeal to a certain group of visitors while leaving
enough questions unanswered that they will seek out more
information.
So, how do you get your hands on a book to give away for free if
you don't have one? Simple—ask someone who's already written a
book if they'll contribute to your cause. Let them know that your
