vengeful. The goal in sharing this information is to inform other
groups and speakers of what to be on the lookout for, who needs
help with what, who lied about their sales or their attendance, and
what to do about it going forward. News travels fast in this industry,
and reputation is important from both ends of the spectrum. But it's
not just news that travels fast, truth travels faster. The bottom line?
Ask for references and then check on them!
Do They Have Good Customer Support
A good speaker should add to your group and not create more work
for you. Not only should they already have their own products, they
need to have adequate customer support as well. If someone buys a
piece of software from your speaker, for example, you don't want
them calling your association if they have a problem. Not only will
you not have the time to handle it, you might not be able to answer
their questions at all.
It's important to remember some products may not be physically
present at the event. With the rise in popularity of digital media,
many people are turning to things such as ebooks, video courses,
and websites as a vehicle for product creation. This can add a unique
set of problems when it comes to customer support. If someone
purchases access to an online product, they may not run into any
problems until they get home.
Customer support becomes even more important in a case like this.
The customer is dealing with your speaker's website, files or system,
and you simply won't know how it works. More importantly, you
