RUNNING A SUCCESSFUL REIA MEETING
half hour. With all respect, no one came to the event to hear about
your dog! They came to see the headlined speaker! Get him on
stage, and do it in a timely manner.
Last but not least, if you don't know how long the speaker plans on
presenting, ask. If you've done what we've taught you to do in this
book and have a contractual agreement with your speaker, you
engaging, active, and eager to bring the speaker on stage, your
audience will feel the same way. If you're disinterested and come
across as bored out of your mind, the audience will also react the
same way. Your speaker is relying on you to create a good audience.
This makes the introduction one of the most important elements in
any event.
• Who Should Do It?
The person you select to handle the introduction is every bit as
important as what they say. A good analogy for this can be found in
celebrity endorsements. Marketing agencies will hire a well-known
