RUNNING A SUCCESSFUL REIA MEETING
We do this many times as a follow up after I speak at a group. In
fact, we can take it one step further. Remember my team in my
office in Lake Wylie that follows up with the attendees? Well, I
have them call every webinar attendee as well to follow up and
make even more sales for the REIA group and me. Is this great or
what?
Paying The Speaker
Different speakers will have different payment expectations. It's
important to clearly understand what these expectations are before
booking them. Even though all speakers will need to be paid at some
point, most are willing to wait, and the truth is, they should wait. A
speaker that demands to leave the event with a check in their hand is
probably not the right speaker for you. That is, unless the speaker is
only being paid a flat fee to speak and had no product to sell. In
most cases, professional REIA speakers will wait at least thirty days
before they expect payment.
The reason for this is actually quite simple. Sales made at the event
only account for a portion of the overall sales related to your group's
interaction with the speaker. If you've followed the suggestions
detailed in this chapter, your group has probably managed to add a
few more sales to the books. Some groups may have done a
significant amount of digital marketing and will be able to pull in an
impressive number of post-event sales.
A good speaker will also create an intense sales period at the actual
event itself. Many people will become caught up in the moment.
They're still excited from the speaker and will be strongly motivated
to put some of the information to use. These people will often
purchase quite a few products from the sales table. It's important to
remember, however, that many of these products can be quite
expensive.
