A few services we've used in the past:
www.betwext.com for blasting group text messages.
www.slydial.com is great for blasting out voicemails because it will
call cell phone numbers and force the call to go directly to the user’s
voicemail. What's great about this is that the member’s cell phone
won't even ring. Instead, a notification will pop up on their phone
letting them know they have a voicemail. This way, they're not
interrupted but will still get notification of the message.
Promote Early, Promote Often
Now that you understand some of the most effective promotional
methods, it's time to get started. Even if you don't yet have an event
planned, you should be continually promoting your group and its
website. The success of any single event is heavily dependent on
your success as a group.
Some of the methods I've presented in this chapter can be utilized
right away. Strategies such as creating a Facebook fan page and
setting up an opt-in form on your website can be completed by the
end of the day. Creating a list of relevant people to whom you can
promote your events is all about time. The longer you spend on it,
the longer your list will be, so getting started right away is the best
strategy.
Remember that some of these techniques will require a minor
investment, while some you can do for free. If you're on a budget
and don't have the money to implement some of these things, there
are a few others you can implement that will cost you little to
nothing and require very little work. While some of the methods in
this chapter can be implemented immediately, some can, and should
be, planned over a period of time. Remember the old saying about
how to eat an elephant? The answer is… one bite at a time. Setting
all of this up won’t happen overnight. Pick two or three things you
can begin to implement right now and get started. You can always
build the rest as you go.
