RUNNING A SUCCESSFUL <strong>REIA</strong> MEETING<br />
attend. It's your job <strong>to</strong> tell them this, and make sure they really get it.<br />
Simple Marketing 101, right? Well, if it's so simple, why do so<br />
many <strong>REIA</strong> associations (and even speakers) mess this up?<br />
Perhaps they've just made it <strong>to</strong>o darned complicated. Let's simplify<br />
it a little bit here.<br />
Oh, and one more thing... The speaker can share in this process as<br />
well. All of the weight doesn't have <strong>to</strong> fall on the <strong>REIA</strong>.<br />
Building Your Mailing List<br />
Before you can begin sending things through snail mail, email, etc...,<br />
you'll need <strong>to</strong> have a list of people <strong>to</strong> send things <strong>to</strong>. Just as with<br />
your group's opt-in list, you should concentrate on building every<br />
aspect of your list, not just your email lists.<br />
Think about it... emails are great, but if all you have is an email list,<br />
you may be missing the boat. Some people these days change their<br />
email address with same frequency as their underwear. (Okay, I<br />
hope you change your underwear a little more often than your email<br />
address, but you get the point...) Email addresses change. They<br />
certainly change more than physical addresses. Why not get both?<br />
While you're at it, why not get a home and cell phone number (do<br />
people still have home phone numbers anymore?), their birthday,<br />
and anything else you can use <strong>to</strong> stay in front of them regularly?<br />
There are lots of ways <strong>to</strong> build your subscriber base. This chapter<br />
will cover many of these in detail.<br />
Other <strong>REIA</strong> Groups<br />
Okay, this may freak out some of the "scarcity mentality" people out<br />
there, but there are probably other <strong>REIA</strong> groups in your area. While<br />
many of you look at these other groups as fierce competition, keep<br />
in mind that there's power in working <strong>to</strong>gether. Many of your<br />
