<strong>REIA</strong> owner who wanted <strong>to</strong> call and apologize for what <strong>to</strong>ok place<br />

in his <strong>REIA</strong> meeting that night. During his heartfelt apology, he<br />

said, "I don't know what I was thinking when I yelled that out from<br />

the back of the room... I'm sorry."<br />

Yes, you read that right. It was the <strong>REIA</strong> owner that yelled "Just say<br />

the F-ING price already!!!" Anthony was floored. I don't know<br />

know who was more shocked—Anthony when that happened <strong>to</strong> him<br />

or me when he shared the s<strong>to</strong>ry with me for the first time. Funny<br />

s<strong>to</strong>ry, yes, but again, it was detrimental <strong>to</strong> sales that night. Everyone<br />

suffered as a result of one bad move.<br />

I was at a <strong>REIA</strong> group not <strong>to</strong>o long ago which was fairly close <strong>to</strong> my<br />

home <strong>to</strong>wn in South Carolina, so I agreed <strong>to</strong> go speak although they<br />

advised me there would only be between 30-50 in the room. I was <strong>to</strong><br />

go on at 6:30 pm. Well at 6:30 there were about 10 people in the<br />

room, so they delayed the start of the meeting, hoping more would<br />

show up. This delayed me going on until 7:30. Just before I was <strong>to</strong><br />

go on, the group leader asked the audience who would like free local<br />

coaching. Then he had someone get up and give a testimonial about<br />

his coaching and about how you didn’t need any other kind of<br />

training. He then had them go <strong>to</strong> the back of the room and set up a<br />

time for a one-on-one meeting.<br />

After that was over and he got ready <strong>to</strong> introduce me he said, “Here<br />

is a guy that has a system very similar <strong>to</strong> mine (he was also getting<br />

in<strong>to</strong> the speaking business). Please welcome Larry Goins.”<br />

Now why would they want <strong>to</strong> even listen <strong>to</strong> me if they were getting<br />

free coaching and my system was very similar <strong>to</strong> the group leaders’?<br />

Needless <strong>to</strong> say, it was a disaster for both of us, even though they<br />

eventually had eighteen in the room.<br />

One last s<strong>to</strong>ry and then we'll get in<strong>to</strong> the specifics, step by step. I<br />

was personally speaking at an event once in California. This was a<br />

pretty well run <strong>REIA</strong> group that had been around for many years.<br />
