RUNNING A SUCCESSFUL REIA MEETING
Was that the only factor that helped with sales? Of course not, but it
was one important factor, and it was very well thought out and
planned in advance.
Give the Information
Okay, so the energy in the room is high, your energy is high, and
you're ready to start the meeting! First things first, you'll want to
give the audience a quick intro as to who you are (notice I said
quick), what the REIA group is all about, the topic of the event, and
what they have to look forward to over the course of the evening or
day. This is called pre-framing, and it is important to build the
excitement within the room.
A lot of people say to under promise and over deliver, which I agree
with in many cases; however, when giving an intro for what's to
come at a REIA meeting event with a speaker, I'd rather you over
promise and over deliver! People will only get as excited as you
give them a reason to be excited. The best meetings are the ones
where the host says (with absolute confidence) that the audience is
in for a huge treat, that what they're going to learn at this meeting
will be life-changing if they'll implement it, that it will be worth
their time for being here. This sets the expectations high and the
anticipation higher. This is a good thing!
Now you can begin to get into the meeting itself. To put it simply, if
the audience doesn't know who you are or why they should listen to
you, they won't place any value on your endorsement of the speaker.
But you must do this quickly. There's still a lot more to do and the
clock is ticking.
Forced Networking
Some REIA clubs do what I call "forced networking," and I think
it's a great idea if done correctly and quickly.
