RUNNING A SUCCESSFUL REIA MEETING
• Get the speaker started ON TIME! No later than 7:30 pm.
People will leave by 9:00 pm whether he's done or not.
Most experienced speakers know exactly how long their
presentation will take from start to finish. Because of this, it’s vitally
important to get the speaker started on time. As a general rule of
thumb, most speakers time their REIA meeting presentation to be
right at 90 minutes, since this is the format most REIAs use. If you
start the speaker at 7:45 instead of 7:30 because announcements
went over the allotted time frame, your speaker won’t finish his
close until 9:15. The challenge with this is that many people will
leave at 9:00 pm whether the speaker is wrapped up or not.
Again, a good speaker will overcome this by adapting his
presentation to meet the new timeframe, but all of these things affect
sales. If a speaker has to leave out one crucial story that’s essential
for his close at the end, sales will likely be affected. Start the
speaker on time. Simple as that.
