Seedlings may be attacked by this fungus disease at any time up to trans<strong>plant</strong> size with infection<br />

usually occurring at or just beneath the groundline. Affected stems develop a brown s<strong>of</strong>t rot<br />

which spreads into the leaves and rapid destruction <strong>of</strong> the seedlings occurs. Frequently there<br />

can be seen a white cottony fungus growth growing over the rotted <strong>plant</strong>s. Under favorable<br />

weather conditions for disease development this fungus may infect the flowers which fall on the<br />

leaves, causing them to rot and hang limply.<br />

climatiques favorables h la maladie, ce champignon peut infecter les fleurs; celles-ci<br />

tombent sur les feuilles, qui pourrissent leur tour et pendent mollement.<br />
