New results from literature research or experiments can so be integrated into the modelwithout compromising the other parts. The following calculations are currently represented inZEPRA:evaporationdrag outrinsingpicklingdegreasing.It could be shown that for total recycling and a serious zero-<strong>emission</strong>-concept in depthresearch of degreasing and pickling in galvanising companies is necessary. This research, thedevelopment of semi-empiric parameters to account for non-idealities in real plantscomparing literature, theory and real performance and modelling in co-operation withindustrial partners form another priority research area of <strong>ZERMEG</strong> <strong>II</strong>. In this report, generaldata for the ideal management of degreasing and pickling solutions as objectives foroptimisation are given.New approaches to increase the working life of process solutions and to separate impuritiesare the second focus of <strong>ZERMEG</strong> <strong>II</strong>. The objective is to ren<strong>der</strong> raw materials for othersectors.Additionally, <strong>ZERMEG</strong> <strong>II</strong> aims at disseminating the approach. By involving new projectpartners the number of applications of the <strong>method</strong> was drastically increased. At the sametime the feedback from the applications ren<strong>der</strong>s a broa<strong>der</strong> data basis. Benchmarks fromthese applications, the documentation of the demonstration projects, a manual and aprogramme for self analysis of interested companies are made publicly available onwww.zermeg.net. This homepage was accessed by 8.500 users in 2004.Identified measures were immediately realised by the industrial partners. This includedchanging the rinsing technology in three pickling plants by the wire producer Joh. Pengg AG,the use of spent caustic for pre-neutralisation and an electrolysis plant for copper recoveryby the printed circuit board manufacturer AT&S, changing the rinsing technology in theproduction of printing cylin<strong>der</strong>s by Rotoform and a new organisation of acid management inthe hot dip zincing plant by Mosdorfer.<strong>ZERMEG</strong> - Ein Projekt <strong>der</strong> <strong>Fabrik</strong> <strong>der</strong> <strong>Zukunft</strong> geför<strong>der</strong>t von BMVIT und FFFEndbericht <strong>ZERMEG</strong> <strong>II</strong>Seite 18
