As a final steps they are treated in an steamvapor atmosphere containig acetic acid in a covered tank.After the final inspection the parts are examined for their technical and decorative quality.The finished parts are carefully packed.In the enterprise detailed records were introduced which are documented on a daily basis: Water consumption Energy consumption Measurements of bath concentrations Discharge of baths Special observationsBy this the following weak points could be pointed out:The actual drag out - particularly after pickling - is higher than the theoretical one. On theone hand the viscosity of the pickling solution is very high, and on the other hand the partswere pickled substantially more than expected which was the result of quality problems. Thatmeans that a big number of parts had to be reprocessed after errors in the followinggalvanic treatment. By good housekeeping measures (improvement of the work instructionsand increased control of the effective implementation of the work instructions) as well asintensified control of the bath conditions (temperature and chemical concentrations) asignificant reduction of the error rate from 4 to less than 2%ofparts could be achieved.18
