Who informs the applicant of the child
support cooperation requirements and
benefits of cooperation?
It is the responsibility of the EW to explain and
review:
• The PA 175, Child Support Guide (out of
drawer). The guide is given at intake and to
any individual who may request child support
services;
• The benefits of cooperation (e.g., $50
disregard, 60 month time limit extension,
etc.);
• The requirements of providing information
regarding the identity and whereabouts of
the absent parent/alleged father;
• The importance of cooperating with child
support enforcement activities requested by
CSSD;
• The right to claim “good cause” (e.g., afraid
of harm, child conceived from incest/rape,
etc.); and
• The child support penalty if he/she fails to
cooperate with CSSD in locating/establishing
paternity.
What is the role of the DPSS Child Support
Liaison?
The Child Support Liaison, at the level of Deputy
District Director, is designated within the district
office. The liaison for each office can be found
in the DPSS Quarterly Liaison Listing.
The role of Child Support Liaison includes:
• Being informed of policy and procedures of
the child support enforcement program;
