(3) A Head of a Circle may sanction the payment of a British or Irish postal order, the<br />

payee of which is dead, to the payee’s heir or legal representative after satisfying himself as to the<br />

legal right of the person claiming payment.<br />

52/1. Payment of defective <strong>India</strong>n <strong><strong>Post</strong>al</strong> Orders. – (1) the Head of a Circle may sanction<br />

the payment of defective <strong>India</strong>n <strong><strong>Post</strong>al</strong> orders in all cases other than those referred to in rue 127-C.<br />

(2) Head of a Circle may sanction the payment of an <strong>India</strong>n postal order, where the payee is<br />

dead, to the heir or legal representative of the deceased after satisfying himself as to the legal right<br />

of the person claiming payment.<br />

52/2. Agreement by banks for the payment of crossed British, Irish and <strong>India</strong>n <strong><strong>Post</strong>al</strong><br />

Orders. –(1) A bank may enter into an express agreement with a Head of a Circle, in the form<br />

given below for the relaxation of the conditions under which British, Irish or <strong>India</strong>n postal orders<br />

are paid when presented by private persons :-<br />

Our attention has been drawn to the rules in the <strong>India</strong>n <strong>Post</strong> Office Guide providing for a<br />

relaxation in the case of British, Irish and <strong>India</strong>n postal orders presented by or through a Bank<br />

which has entered into an express agreement with the <strong>Post</strong> Office, of the conditions on which such<br />

orders are paid to private persons.<br />

entered on each such order presented for payment; and upon request, to furnish the <strong>Post</strong> Office<br />

with the address of any such constituent.<br />
