These Chest X-ray pictures of delayed-onset pulmonary edema after phosgene
exposure shows the progression of peripheral pulmonary infiltrates over time, as is
typical of non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema.
Chest X-ray appearances can lag behind clinical symptoms, but the accumulation of
lung water – and inflammatory cells – as depicted by the increased whiteness of the
normally black lung fields on X-ray is one indication of the degree of injury occurring in
this case.
