The Station nightclub fire occurred in West Warwick, Rhode Island on the evening of
February 20th, 2003. This event, the fourth-deadliest nightclub fire in U.S. history, killed
100 people and injured more than 200 others. Ninety-six perished on the night of the fire,
and four died later from their injuries at local hospitals. Many died without burns or
significant smoke inhalation, suggestive of a role for cyanide in causing or contributing to
some of the deaths.
