One of the involved women had been harassed by a man who had a history of stalking
women. Investigators found he had left the country. A couple weeks later, he was
arrested at his home in Belgium, tried and convicted.
The newspaper clipping (New York Times) above shows an investigator holding a
display of the adulterated candy and X-Rays and an inset photograph of the poisoner,
Filip Semey. He had also sent a box of candy to another woman on the West Coast,
and as mentioned above, had a history of stalking women.
