This module provides an overview of the US food, drug, and water production systems
with a view towards identifying potential threats and vulnerabilities. Past incidents of
contamination or terrorism are discussed and used to contextualize existing or possible
preventive measures and regulations.
By the end of this module, participants should be able to:
Describe how US drinking water is produced and protected
Describe significant episodes of water, food, and medication contamination; noting
potential agents of concern, system vulnerabilities, and resulting system-wide changes
or legislation
Identify resources detailing measures used to protect the US water, food, and drug
supplies
