Since cyanide is easy to obtain, plentiful, and easily converted into gaseous form, it is
capable of causing mass casualties and social disruption. It requires large quantities of
resources to control its effects (rapid response, ventilation, and specific antidotes, which
may not be readily available). Thus, it is ideally suited for use as a weapon.
