Unlike the battlefield chemical agents which are highly secured and tightly controlled,
TICs and TIMs are ubiquitous. Two seemingly innocuous sources of highly toxic
chemicals are farm and garden supply stores and college laboratories. College
laboratories, particularly those involved in research as opposed to education, contain
many toxic chemicals, often in large volumes, and are another source for obtaining TICs
and TIMS.
Examples of some of the agents found in these other sites include:
o Airports use jet fuel, and transport toxic chemicals in the airplanes.
o Farm and garden supply stores have pesticides.
o

Toxic waste dumps are obvious sources of a variety of chemicals deemed to be
hazardous to human health.
Glass plants contain large amounts of arsenic and thallium.
