Transport can be conducted by land,air and sea and can be internal and external. Besides the production of XO, its transportation poses the greatest riskin the handling of XO. For this reason, XO transportation should be limited to a minimum. It should be carefullyplanned, prepared and conducted so as to ensure that the XO arrives accident-free and safely at its destination. Inthis context, the aspects of safety, security and stockpile management must always be taken into account. The type,route and time of XO transportation must be selected so as to keep the risk for all personnel involved in thetransportation at a justifiable low level.Class 1 substances or items – i.e. conventional XO – should not be transported together on one vehicle, with itemsor substances belonging to classes other than class 1.Class 1 substances or items belonging to different compatibility groups should not be transported together onto onevehicle unless the following table 1 permits this “mixed loading”. Restraints indicated in the table should beobserved.Table 1.
