TRANSPORT OF DANGEROUS GOODS AND RISK MANAGEMENT 80CONCLUSIONDuring the realisation of the development project TR 213037, the thorough observation of the issue of wastematerials from the exploitation of vessels was required. Starting from the fact that a large number of waste materialsare generated on vessels, it was vital to perform the identification and classification of waste, with an aim ofconsidering possible risks to the natural and working environment and the selection of an optimal method oftreatment of certain types of hazardous waste.Taking into account the fact that some types of hazardous waste from vessels must be transported by landinfrastructure to the locations inlands, the researchers had to reconsider ways of safe transport by different means oftransport, with a minimal risk to people and the natural environment. In order to establish an integrated model ofmanaging waste materials from vessels, a methodology was devised for the identification, classification,characterisation of waste, evaluation of the influences of waste on working and natural environment, preparationand labelling of package for transport and an optimal method of processing, which proved successful in the project.As the result of the undertaken methodological steps for multidisciplinary observation and solution of the issues ofthese particular types of waste, numerous algorithms which present the basis for designing a manual were devised inorder to help expert teams on a vessel and in harbours at home and abroad. It is reasonable to expect designing of aworking tabulated items in the form of a manual for daily work, which contributes to a more efficient training ofworking parties for specialised working procedures and to the establishment of an efficient system of managing thistype of waste in the international navigation routes, in accordance with the requirements of the international andnational Regulative.Finally, we should emphasise that the presented tables and algorithms served as the basis for the development of asoftware application for managing waste materials from ships, and also for managing risks in the event of anaccident in navigation routes that can be used by all harbours, which is the major contribution of the results of thewhole TR 21037 project.Acknowledgements: The authors of this paper would like to thank the Ministry of Science and TechnologicalDevelopment of the Republic of Serbia for the support and financing of the technological development project TR21037, within which this paper was developed.BIBLIOGRAPHY1.
