Interview three of your friends in Indonesian, asking the following<br />
questions with -nya. Record their responses in a table as shown.<br />
Topic-comment sentences are those in which the subject is the topic of<br />
the sentence (what the sentence is about) and it comes first, while what<br />
follows is the comment about that topic. In speech, there is usually a<br />
short pause between the topic and the comment. This is not so evident<br />
in writing.<br />
Bu Rita anaknya lima.<br />

Literally: (As for) Bu &a, her children are five.<br />
+ Bu Rita has five children.<br />
The suffix -nya is attached to the noun or noun phrase that belongs to<br />
the topic. In the example above, the children belong to Bu Rita;<br />
therefore, -nya is attached to anak.<br />
