ON SOFTWARE ENGINEERING

This paper describes a latin-ameritan experience on the teaching-learning
process in a distance graduate course on software engineering, the didactical
aspects are discussed, the curricula of the course is considered, some
statistics of the project are presented and provisory conclusions outlined.
1. INTRODUCTION
The development of the modern communication methods is producing new
work modalities among those which starts to emerge the “distance work”
concept where a person, without be moved of his household and through the
means of communication, accomplishes his labor for the company in the one
which works, through a flow “of informatíon”.
Obviousiy these changes, burst upon the field of the teaching being coined
terms, already of common use, such as “virtual classroom “. As in the case of
the mentioned employee, the student, without be moved his place, “lives a
similar reality” to the one which are accustomed with our classic teaching
methods where the professor exchanges knowledge with students that are
found contiguous to him.
We said contiguous students to the professor in the sense of ,the fact that, SO
much they as the professor, are found few meters one of the other.
AS a previous step to the “virtual classroom” exist already, what is known as
Open Universities, where the student studies his career without his physical
presence in the studies center [García Martínez et al., 1991; García Martínez &
Marsiglio, 1991; Garcia Martínez & Perichinsky, 1996a].
The knowledge exchange is produced through use of all the means of
communication known, such as the telephone, the data nets and other. In the
societies that they have implemented this study modality is being producing a
massive increase in the level of knowledge transmission, preparing them for
the immediate future ìn the one which already is perceived that will be gone
producing deep modifications in the relative levels among the countries. Those
