Education Counselling in “Learning Shops”
I. Problem
Demands on people in terms of educational careers are considerable.
Individuals face the difficult task of finding the
right course in the multitude of educational programmes
and obtaining information about realistic forms of funding.
This is a particularly difficult problem for so-called "educationally
deprived sections of the population" which are especially
in need of education. To ensure that the willingness to
undergo schooling is not inhibited by this initial process of
obtaining information, a key requirement for a functioning
infrastructure for Lifelong Learning is to make this information
available to the appropriate persons.
II. Solution approach
The Learning Network Berlin-Brandenburg (LNBB) starts
work here, offering interested persons independent, easily
accessible and customer-oriented education counselling in
cooperation with its partners.

III. Outlook
We are assuming that the demand for qualified and independent
education counselling services will continue to
increase in future. Together with the states of Berlin and
Brandenburg and with the participation of local players and
existing counselling facilities, we will extend our services
further and ensure their sustainability.

The LNBB provides counselling services
• in a total of three "Learning Shops" in the Berlin districts
of Neukölln and Pankow and in Königs Wusterhausen in
Brandenburg,
• with prompt information about educational services and
facilities or in in-depth, personal counselling sessions ,
• via the Internet as an online educational counselling
service or by email, expert or group chats.
Interested persons can use the information portal
www.lnbb.de to access all LNBB services as well as those of a
series of education funding agencies in the region. They can
also obtain further information about other education/further
education-related topics. Events we regularly organise
ourselves in the Learning Shops are designed to inform
interested persons about their qualification prospects generally.
