Given the enormous scope of educational programmes
offered in and around Hamburg, it is difficult for those interested
in taking courses to find exactly what they are looking
for. An independent, cross-state and low-threshold form of
education counselling is especially useful so that men and
women from the rural parts of Schleswig-Holstein and Lower
Saxony also have easy access to competent counselling.
We constantly increase the demand for counselling by carrying
out comprehensive publicity activities and we are confident
that the “Bildungsanschluss” information hotline has
a promising future ahead. In the long-term, we will integrate
the counselling services either into existing counselling
structures in the region or reorganise the “Bildungsanschluss”
as a marketable, regional service
instrument.
II. Solution approach
With the “Bildungsanschluss”, we offer interested persons
from Hamburg and surrounding regions in Schleswig-Holstein
and northeast Lower Saxony an education information
hotline service. Counsellors involved in the scheme help
interested persons examine the range of available educational
programmes and possibilities on their own. We
increase the transparency of the education market by making
it possible for persons to compare programmes and by
providing advice-seekers with a selection of educational
programmes on the desired subjects.

Our education counsellors advise individually and comprehensively
on issues relating to
• further education programmes,
• vocational qualifications,
• school or vocational examinations and qualifications,
• educational measures supported by the Employment Office.
Good counselling is not for free: callers pay 0.12 € per
minute. The positive response of the population to the service
has convinced us of the quality of counselling and underlines
the fact that counselling fees are not counterproductive
of the “Bildungsanschluss”.
The network partners describe the “Bildungsanschluss” as a
regional service instrument. In this way, the network also
helps improve access to educational programmes – especially
for groups who are remote from education.
