This indicator shows the number <strong>of</strong> equivalent full time staff (including casuals) on each <strong>Council</strong>’s payroll on the last payday <strong>of</strong> the financial year.<br />

Ku-ring-gai’s equivalent full time staff totalled 463, which is below the Group 3 <strong>Council</strong>s average <strong>of</strong> 631. The highest number <strong>of</strong> staff employed <strong>of</strong> the Group 3<br />

<strong>Council</strong>s was Sutherland who employed 1350, while Hurstville employs the least at 301.<br />

When compared with neighbouring <strong>Council</strong>s, Ku-ring-gai has the fourth highest (behind Ryde, Warringah and Hornsby) number <strong>of</strong> equivalent full time staff. Lane<br />

Cove employed 174 staff, which was the lowest number employed by a neighbouring <strong>Council</strong> while Hornsby employed the highest at 585 staff.<br />

The lowest number <strong>of</strong> staff employed by a NSW <strong>Council</strong> is 29 (Urana) while the highest is 1,443 (Sydney). The number <strong>of</strong> staff is affected by factors such as:<br />

organisation structure, the level <strong>of</strong> outsourcing, <strong>Council</strong>s budgets and the type and extent <strong>of</strong> service delivery provided to the community.<br />
