• Each holder <strong>of</strong> a license in force under the Liquor Act 1982 for premises that border on or<br />
adjoin or is adjacent to the proposed Alcohol Free Zone;<br />
• Each secretary <strong>of</strong> a registered club under the Registered Clubs Act 1976 that borders on,<br />
adjoins or is adjacent to the proposed Alcohol Free Zone.<br />
Should <strong>Council</strong> adopt this report, advertising and notification to renew the zones, will be<br />
undertaken as outlined above. If no substantial objections are received, signs will be erected and<br />
the zones will remain valid for three (3) years from the date <strong>of</strong> declaration in accordance with the<br />
provisions <strong>of</strong> the Local Government Act (Alcohol Free Zones) 1995. If substantial objections are<br />
received, a further report will be brought to <strong>Council</strong>.<br />
CONSULTATION<br />
Support has been received from the Ku-ring-gai Local Command and residents <strong>of</strong> the areas.<br />
FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS<br />
Administrative costs for the public consultation process and the supply <strong>of</strong> signage will be met by<br />
existing budgets within Technical Services.<br />
CONSULTATION WITH OTHER COUNCIL DEPARTMENTS<br />
The Development and Regulation Department and the Community Services Department have been<br />
consulted and both support the proposal to renew the Alcohol Free Zones.<br />
SUMMARY<br />
The Alcohol Free Zones at South Turramurra Shopping Centre, Wade Lane car park and St Ives<br />
Village Green are due to be renewed. The renewal <strong>of</strong> the zones has been requested by the<br />
community and is supported by the Police. The Act requires advertising and notification to renew<br />
the zones, which will be undertaken should <strong>Council</strong> adopt this report. Should no substantial<br />
objections be received, signs will be erected and valid for three (3) years. Should substantial<br />
objections be received, a further report will be brought to <strong>Council</strong>.<br />
RECOMMENDATION<br />
A. That <strong>Council</strong> proceeds with the proposal to renew the Alcohol Free Zones in South<br />
Turramurra Shopping Centre, Wade Lane car park and St Ives Village Green, by<br />
notification and invitation for public comment in accordance with Section 644A <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Local Government Act 1993.<br />
