For a CMCP CPE, the CE<strong>150</strong> modifies the DHCPrequest by inserting the CircuitID from thecmDHCPTable into the Relay Agent In<strong>for</strong>mation andClient Identifier fields in the DHCP request message.For a non-CMCP CPE or a host on the premise LAN, theCE<strong>150</strong> modifies the DHCP request by inserting theCircuitID only into the Relay Agent In<strong>for</strong>mation field.3. The CE<strong>150</strong> sends the request upstream as a unicast IPpacket destined to the DHCP Server IP addressconfigured in the cmDHCPTable.Netmodel=IPA CPE (CMCP or non-CMCP)or premise LAN Host sends aDHCP request.The CE relays the DHCP request to theupstream DHCP server identified by theServer IP address from the DHCPTable.CPELink to DSL PII:1.4.1.0<strong>CopperEdge</strong>DSLAMUpstreamRouterDHCPServerHostThe CE unicasts or broadcasts theDHCP response to the CPE or Host.ServerIPAddr=204.20.20.30The DHCP Server responds withan IP address and any otherconfiguration parameters, sendingthem back to the CE.The CE<strong>150</strong> as a DHCP Relay AgentPass Through ModeIf the CE<strong>150</strong> receives a DHCP request and there is no entry inthe cmDHCPTable <strong>for</strong> that DSL PII, the CE<strong>150</strong> passes the requestto the upstream router or DHCP server.
