Cross-Connect and VWAN NetmodelsThe downstream DHCP responses are simply <strong>for</strong>warded to theappropriate DSL PIIs based on the provisioning configured inthe CE<strong>150</strong>. No additional processing is required.HDIA NetmodelIf the received DHCP response is a broadcast IP packet, thispacket is sent to the DSL PII within whose range the assignedclient IP address in the DHCP response message falls. The responseis sent as a broadcast IP message, and the DHCP clientidentifies its response based on the MAC Address in the DHCPresponse (which was previously sent in the DHCP request).If the received DHCP response is an IP unicast packet, theCE<strong>150</strong> sends this packet to the DSL PII within whose range theassigned client IP address in the DHCP response falls. The responseis sent as a unicast packet and uses the MAC Addressin the DHCP response as the unicast MAC address. There<strong>for</strong>e,only the correct DHCP client will be able to receive the response.CopperVPN NetmodelIf the received DHCP response is a broadcast IP packet, it isflooded to all members of the CopperVPN group as a broadcast,and the DHCP client identifies its response based on the MACAddress in the DHCP response.If the received DHCP response is an IP unicast packet, theCE<strong>150</strong> replicates this packet to all DSL PIIs in the CopperVPNgroup as a unicast packet, and uses the MAC Address in theDHCP response as the unicast MAC address.
