(YHQWVDQG$ODUPVThe CE150 is designed to be in continuous operation, 24 hoursa day. During operation, various events will occur: operatorswill log in and out; configuration files will be modified andsaved; the status of DSL or network links will change; and occasionalfailures or other operational anomalies may occur.Events can be sent by any resource in the system. They arelogged in memory (locally on the CE150 system), and are alsotranslated into SNMP Trap PDUs to be sent to external SNMPmanagers. Here are the three groups of events on the Copper-Edge:• Alarms—Events that indicate the occurrence of an alarmcondition; alarms will affect the status of the alarmpanel; in general an alarm will remain in effect untilcleared (either automatically or manually).• Alarm Clearing Notifications—Events that clear aparticular alarm (if one exists); if no corresponding alarmcondition exists for such an event to clear, it is treated asa normal notification.• Event Notifications—Events, such as warnings andinformational messages, that neither trigger nor clear analarm. For a list of Alarms, Alarm Clearing Notifications, and Event Notificationsthat may occur on your CopperEdge system, see AppendixC.(YHQW&RQWHQWVEach event contains a set of data that is common to all events, plus a set of data (possibly empty) that is specific to the particularevent. The common data is used to identify the type ofevent, the resource reporting the event, and the severity of theevent. The event-specific data is included to provide more detailsabout the particular event. The common data contained inevery event consists of the following objects from the cmTrapEventTable:SeqNum, Type, ObjectClass, ClassId, Severity, andTimeTag.&KDSWHU7URXEOHVKRRWLQJ
