However, the CE150 does much more than just connect ports;it also performs many other important networking functions, asdescribed in the netmodel sections. In some netmodels, manyDSL ports can be aggregated together onto a single WAN VC. Inother netmodels, it is only meaningful to map a single DSL interfaceto a single WAN VC. In these cases, the CE150 enforcesthis one-to-one connection requirement at configuration time.A third possibility is that the DSL port is a Frame Relay or ATMinterface containing VCs within it. Then the VCs on the DSLport are connected to VCs on the WAN port.CopperEdge DSLAMAggregatedWANVCDSLVCVCVCDSL FrameRelay PortAggregatedOne-to-OneVC-to-VCVCVCVCVCVCCE150 with Aggregated and One-to-One ConnectionsBecause many DSL ports may be connected to a single aggregatedinterface, you always specify connections at the DSL interface. That is, you define connections by configuring the DSLport to connect to a WAN VC. The connection is two-way; datatraffic can flow in both directions. But, you always configure aconnection by connecting a DSL port to a WAN VC, not by connectinga WAN VC to a DSL port.$SSHQGL[%FP,IDFH&RQILJXUDWLRQ
