TheCE<strong>150</strong> simply drops the response it receives from the upstreamDHCP server.Cross-Connect, HDIA, VWAN, and CopperVPN NetmodelsWhen the netmodel is Cross-Connect, HDIA, VWAN, or Copper-VPN, you can configure the CE<strong>150</strong> to act as a DHCP Server oras a DHCP Forwarding Agent <strong>for</strong> a port or VC.The CE<strong>150</strong> as a DHCP ServerFor CMCP CPEs:• The CE<strong>150</strong> responds to DHCP requests from CMCPCPEs <strong>for</strong> which there is an entry in the cmDHCPTable.• The CE<strong>150</strong> generates a response based on theconfigured objects in the cmDHCPTable and sends theresponse back to the DSL port that it arrived on.For hosts on the premise LAN:• The CE<strong>150</strong> <strong>for</strong>wards the DHCP requests to an upstreamDHCP router, which is responsible <strong>for</strong> sending therequest to the appropriate DHCP server.• The Forwarding function is described on page 85.For non-CMCP CPEs and hosts on the premise LAN:• The CE<strong>150</strong> responds to DHCP requests from non-CMCPCPEs <strong>for</strong> which there is an entry in the cmDHCPTable.• However, the CE<strong>150</strong> cannot differentiate between DHCPrequests coming from non-CMCP CPEs or hosts on thepremise LAN. It sends the same response <strong>for</strong> both.• There<strong>for</strong>e, <strong>for</strong> non-CMCP CPEs, configure the CE<strong>150</strong> asa Forwarding Agent instead of as a DHCP Server.
