6\VORJIn certain situations, it can be helpful to collect diagnostic informationfrom a number of different CopperEdge units (CE200or CE150), such as when multiple units are exhibiting the sameor similar kinds of symptoms. To facilitate collecting this dataat a central location, the CopperEdge unit can be configured asa UNIX Syslog client.With the Syslog capability, diagnostic information from a numberof CopperEdge units, which was previously available only ateach unit’s control module Diagnostic port, can be sent directlyto a file on a UNIX-based server (Solaris or Linux) in standardSyslog message format.While the Syslog capability requires that you configure the CopperEdgeunits and UNIX server as clients, the log file should notbe considered a user-accessible function.Since Syslog messages are identical in content and format tothose at the CopperEdge Diagnostic ports, the same cautionsapply: Syslog message information cannot be reliably interpretedby an operator, and should only be retrieved with the activeparticipation of Copper Mountain Technical Support.
