FRF.5 Forwarding ModeThis translation mode allows a DSL port on the CE150 to receiveQ.922 HDLC frames, transform them into ATM AAL5PDUs, and send them to an ATM WAN interface for transmissionacross an ATM network. At the other end of the network, areverse translation allows the Q.922 HDLC frames to be recovered. To configure this mode, set the netmodel and encapsulationtype on the DSL and WAN interfaces:CRAFT> set cmiface [1.2.1.100] netmodel=cross-connectencapsulationtype=frf5CRAFT> set cmiface [1.5.1] netmodel=cross-connectencapsulationtype=q922CRAFT> set cmsubiface [1.5.1.15] destpii=1.2.1.100FRF.8 Translation and Transparent Forwarding ModesThis translation/forwarding mode is for Q.922 frames beingsent to ATM VCs on an ATM network where they terminate. TheCE150 decides to use translation mode or transparent modebased on the encapsulations set on the DSL VC and WAN VC.(In the Cross-Connect netmodel, DSL VC encapsulation is impliedby the DSL port encapsulation.)For instance, if the two encapsulations are the same (or if theWAN VC encapsulation is None), Transparent mode is used. Ifthey differ, the Translation mode is used. Since DSL encapsulationapplies to an entire DSL port, all DSL VCs that requiretranslation must use the same encapsulation. DSL encapsulationis not relevant or used on DSL VCs that are not translated(i.e., whose cross-connected WAN VC does not specify a translation). To configure two data VCs on one DSL port, and map them totwo WAN VCs where one has an encapsulation type of RFC-1483 and the other has an encapsulation type of None, enterthe following commands:CRAFT> set cmiface [1.2.1.1] netmodel=cross-connectencapsulationtype=rfc1483 destpii=1.4.1.19CRAFT> set cmiface [1.2.1.2] netmodel=cross-connectencapsulationtype=none destpii=1.4.1.20CRAFT> set cmiface [1.4.1] netmodel=cross-connectencapsulationtype=q.922CRAFT> set cmsubiface [1.4.1.19] destpii=1.2.1.1CRAFT> set cmsubiface [1.4.1.20] destpii=1.2.1.2After configuration, WAN VC 1.3.1.1 has a forwarding mode ofFRF8-1490-1483, while WAN VC 1.3.1.2 has a forwardingmode of VC-VC-payload.&RSSHU(GJH,QVWDOODWLRQDQG2SHUDWLQJ*XLGH
