&RQILJXULQJ&(1HWZRUN,QWHUIDFHVYou can review the basic configuration of any CE150 interfaceby checking the contents of its entry (PII) in the cmIface table(see the sample table entry below). Then, use the command, setcmiface, to specify the interface and configure its various parameters(objects). In the following example (and in the tables throughout thischapter), shaded objects are read-only; you cannot directly setthem. The objects without shading are operator-configurable.Group: cmIfaceTableInstance: [1.4.1.0]PII = 1.4.1.0IfIndex = 1.4.1.0Name= Name of this portAdditionalInfo = ....NetModel= IPIpAddr = 192.168.1.1NetMask = 255.255.255.0MacAddr= 0.60.58.0.0.bBurnedInMacAddr= 0.60.58.0.0.bFarEndAddr = 0.0.0.0DestPii = 1.2.2.32CMCPCompatible= YesEncapsulationType = rfc1483FwdMode= IP PolicyPix = 54)XOO,3YV3ROLF\5RXWHG/LQNVAs described in the previous chapter, you can configure a DSLlink to make the CPE behave as an ordinary IP router. If youconfigure a DSL link with an IP address, and you also specify adestination PII. At that point, the link is said to be IP-Policy routedand the status of the fwdMode field in the cmIface table willdisplay IP Policy.Policy routing is a forwarding process that ignores the destinationIP address in packets. Instead, packets are sent to the destinationPII specified by the configuration of the packet’s sourcePII (the DSL interface). If no destPII is specified, the link is Full-IP routed.Policy routing allows you to enhance security between DSLlinks, since traffic arriving on one DSL link cannot be routedout to another DSL link nor to any other IP address, no matterwhat its contents. The one exception to the Policy Routingscheme occurs when a premise host sends a packet to theCE150’s IP address. In that case, the host is talking to theCE150 rather than through it.The CE150 receives and processes the packet, but it is not policyrouted. Such a setup allows a host on a LAN served by a CPEto ping the DSL interface.&RSSHU(GJH,QVWDOODWLRQDQG2SHUDWLQJ*XLGH
