If you mustremove or handle modules <strong>for</strong> any reason, observe standard ESDprecautions (such as using ground straps <strong>for</strong> personnel andequipment, and storing removed modules in anti-static bags). If youare unsure of the necessary precautions, contact Copper MountainTechnical Support <strong>for</strong> assistance.6\VWHP&RQWURO0RGXOHReplacement of a System Control /WAN Module is service-affecting,with consequent interruption of service <strong>for</strong> all subscribersserved by this CE<strong>150</strong>. Except in cases of emergency (systemdown), we recommend that you replace the module during ascheduled maintenance period at off-peak hours.To replace a SCM/WAN module:1. If the installed System Control Module is operational:• Set FTP to Binary mode and copy the Configurationfile to a workstation.• Or, back up the existing configuration file asdescribed in Backing Up the Saved Config File onpage 110.2. Power down the system and disconnect all front panelcables from the System Control/WAN Module.3. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the two screwssecuring the System Control/WAN Module.4. Lift the module extraction levers to gently separate theSystem Control Module from its connector inside theCE<strong>150</strong>.When the module is free, remove it from the CE<strong>150</strong> andtransfer it to a suitable anti-static container.5. Remove the new System Control Module from its antistaticbag, and install in the empty CE<strong>150</strong> SystemControl slot.6. Gently but firmly seat the module into its connectorinside the CE<strong>150</strong>.If the module does not readily mesh with the connectorpins, do not <strong>for</strong>ce it; pull the module out and try again.&KDSWHU7URXEOHVKRRWLQJ
