7 Picking As an example, I have set up a new storage location for a wheat beer brewery in Munich: south shipping warehouse. Lean WM 7.4 Some storage types in lean WM are identified as interim storage types. The default interim storage type defined in standard SAP software for from-bin transfers (and for our shipping process) is 916. For lean WM, you must assign your fixed-bin locations to at least one storage type. You maintain the storage type in Customizing — with minimal criteria when compared with WM. You need only decide whether or not the transfer order is confirmed after a to-bin or from-bin transfer. Confirmation means that the warehouse employees must indicate in the transfer order if the materials were brought to or taken from the correct storage location in the correct quantities. If you have decided on picking with lean WM, Making confirmation obligatory is recommend, because the materials are ready for shipment only after confirmation. During confirmation, you have an option to enter a difference between the from-bin and tobin transfer quantities in the transfer order. If your fixed-bin storage locations are distributed across several buildings or areas and you want to set up different processes for individual buildings or areas, you can create a storage type for each building. You also have the option to split the transfer order and send them to different printers. In this example, I have created storage type KR1 (refrigerated shelf 1).
