Packing 13.1
On the first pallet, there are 800 bottles from Delivery 80014663. The second pallet
contains a total of 600 bottles with different delivery documents and different
batches. At this stage, you can change the quantities on the pallets once again.
However, you cannot change the quantity of the boxes because they were packed
in the delivery document. But the second pallet also contains the five boxes. In
Figure 13.7, Box “552” is shown expanded so that you can see its content.
Boxes or items in the delivery document that you packed in the shipment document
cannot be changed in the delivery document. You get a message that the items were
packed in the shipment document and first have to be unpacked there in order to be
changed.
13.1.3 Usage of Means of Transport
Another special feature that is often used in the shipment document is the specification
of means of transport. This may refer, for example, to containers or vehicles.
In many cases, only the means of transport are defined that are not packed via the
packing function. One empty handling unit remains in the shipment document.
But this is quite useful, because this enables you to store data that refers to the
means of transport and cannot be found in the shipment document, for instance,
the driver or the license plate number of the truck.

To use this function, you must first set up a means of transport category. Use the
categories that are predefined by the SAP system. If they are not sufficient, define
specific means of transport categories. They should start with “Z.” Figure 13.8 illustrates
the settings for a means of transport category.
