If you have defined your characteristic values and specified them in the system, or
if you use the standard settings, the next step is to specify the order of inquiry for
the individual combinations. This sequence is also called the access sequence.

When you start Customizing, you first see an overview of the access sequences
already generated. For the packing instruction in the delivery document, the
access sequence “SHIP” is already created. Select this access sequence and open
the Accesses folder on the left half of the screen. You can now see the sequence
of characteristic values that determine how the packing instruction is found (see
Figure 8.35): The system first tries to find a packing instruction with the characteristic
values material/ship-to party/usage (Table “110”). If none is found, it searches
using the material and ship-to party (Table “100”). If still no packing instruction
is found, the system tries the final combination, Table “1,” with just the material
number as a characteristic value.

You can define or program one more conditions for this access sequence. This
condition specifies whether the access sequence is taken into account or not. If
this condition applies, the packing instruction is read using the corresponding
characteristic values.
