In a similar manner, master data must be sent from the SAP system to the external
TPS. In the SAP world, this data is called location master data. The data is mandatory,
if, for example, the external transportation planning system has to recalculate
routes (optimized according to geographic and topographic data).

planning system.

VT61: Transfer delivery documents to TPS
SAP software advises not to select and sort delivery documents according to geographic
or other special factors for the creation of shipments. External route planning
systems are specialized on this issue, and it is not provided in the SAP system.
If you want to use such a planning system, you have to work with the TPS system
or plan and develop your own interface. For this purpose, the corresponding
BAPIs are provided to create shipments.
12.9 Summary
The shipment document is another document in the shipping process. Using the
shipment document, you map a shipment within the SAP system. Several shipment
types are provided for this purpose (for example, preliminary leg, combined
shipment, or main leg). Individual shipments can be determined manually or via
collective processing (online or batch variant). Many functions that you map in
the shipment document have already been explained for delivery documents (text
determination, partner determination, routes, shipping date, and so on).
Chapter 13, Other Shipment Functions, describes two specific functions that are
only available in the shipment document.
