15.1 Standard SAP Printouts
Within the scope of shipment processing, SAP software provides some standard
print outputs. You can extend these standard printouts in any way you like and
integrate them into the output determination process. But first, a brief overview
of output determination.
To process shipments, you have to generate output in the shipment document
that is then handed over to the driver in printed form. You will also have to print
outputs for other purposes, for instance, to identify pallets and containers, and
you will have to send outputs to your forwarding agent by fax, e-mail, and EDI. A
message ID is assigned to these various forms of output; in SAP terminology, this
is the output type. Therefore, the shipping order has its own output type, just like
the loading list and the pallet label. The most important output types provided by
the SAP system as standards are illustrated in Figure 15.1.

15.2 Output Determination
You can assign multiple output types to one shipment document. All output types
required for the respective processing (for example, by road, by train, sea freight,
or air freight) are combined in an output determination procedure. This output
determination procedure is assigned to a shipment type. However, because you do
