won the praise of all participants that the CTOC keeps on staging the<br />

musical concert by providing opportunities for young student players<br />

to learn the essence of Olympism when performing the concert. The<br />

purpose of the musical concert is to spread the aesthetic and cultural<br />

parts of Olympism and give the general public an overview that the<br />

Olympic Games is not only a multi-sport games, but the cultural<br />

connotation and implications of the Games as well.<br />

Participation in International Events<br />

Recognizing the significance of sport engendering living art and<br />

cultural implications, the CTOC undertakes from time to time the<br />

lectures of diffusing Olympism and Olympic spirit at township level<br />

on the one hand and actively participates in the art and sport contests,<br />

or for children, or literature competition organized by the International<br />

Olympic Committee on the other hand. Over the past four years, the<br />

CTOC has partaken in the following competitions in art and sport<br />

under aegis of Olympic Education and Culture Commission, IOC:<br />

1. Sport and Art Contest in 2000<br />

After receiving the information regarding the IOC 2000 Sport and<br />

Art Contest, the Culture Commission of CTOC has elaborated the<br />

guidelines for the IOC 2000 Sport and Art Contest at national<br />

level and distributed the information to national sports<br />

associations, schools/academies of arts and universities/colleges of<br />

physical education, and formed a jury by inviting reputed artists<br />

and representatives of academic sectors, government authorities.<br />

Following the rigid selection, the top three of artworks in graphic<br />

design and sculpture were delivered to the Olympic Museum for<br />

contest. In early 2000, the CTOC was informed that one of the<br />

paintings “Clinging” won the second prize at international level,<br />

which was very encouraging to our young painter. The secondprized<br />

artwork “Clinging” was exhibited during the 27 th Sydney<br />

Olympic Games in 2000 and now is included in the collection of<br />

Olympic Museum.<br />
